Darth Vaderis arguably the single most iconic Star Warscharacter, yet it's his Jedi self, Anakin Skywalker, who is evidently more popular. Darth Vader was introduced in A New Hope, and at the time, he wasn't Anakin; this was a decision made in The Empire Strikes Back that changed the franchise forever.
