The concept of difficulty options in a Soulslike is an evergreen debate. The 'purists' argue that the genre is intended to be brutally difficult, and the addition of easier difficulty options cheapens the experience for everyone. A counter-argument is often made on the grounds of accessibility, i.e. difficulty options that make progressing through a game easier allow everyone to experience what a game has to offer.
