Some manga are so groundbreaking, imaginative, and beautifully executed that they deserve flawless adaptations. Unfortunately, not every series gets the treatment it should. Time and again, studios rush productions, make baffling changes, or fail to capture the spirit that made the manga so beloved in the first place. The result is a string of anime that feel “mid” at best, watchable, but nowhere near the masterpiece status of their source material.
