Long-time Pokémon players likely know that there are a lot of unofficial Pokémon titles that are just as good as their official counterparts. These fan-made games are referred to as ROM hacks and are created by players accessing the Read-Only Memory (ROM) of an original game and making changes to it. Some ROM hacks are as simple as quality-of-life updates to improve on annoying aspects of an existing game, while others completely redesign the game’s story and style of play.
