Slasher franchises don't stay dead for long, and there are several dormant series that could use a modern movie very soon. The slasher genre's origins are up for debate, but there's no denying that movies like Halloween and Friday the 13th brought it into the mainstream. The '80s was awash in dozens of slasher films, some better than others.
