On the list of unmade Hollywood projects I'm desperate to see, Guillermo del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness ranks pretty high. The novella by H.P. Lovecraft about scientists who uncover an unspeakable evil in Antarctica was first associated with the Mexican filmmaker in 2006, when a script by him and Matthew Robins was put into turnaround by Warner Bros. Universal had their chance next, this time with James Cameron attached as producer, but ultimately passed on the project in 2011.
