While both books and movies are certainly products of their time, many stories can transcend decades, even generations, and still be relevant and applicable many years later and lead to numerous novel adaptations. One such story is F. Scott Fitzgerald's literary classic The Great Gatsby, which has been adapted numerous times and will now get a new modern-day version courtesy of Netflix.
