Marvel confirms SHIELD will take center stage moving forward, replacing the original plans for Captain America's current story. Following the events of Secret Empire, where a Steve Rogers impostor tried to give Hydra control over the Earth, SHIELD dissolved and remained absent from the Marvel Universe for almost a decade. In 2026, however, SHIELD is back and ready to face a seemingly world-ending threat.
