While Welcome To Derry’s Pennywise backstory didn’t clarify all the lingering mysteries surrounding the monster, it did at least confirm a longstanding Stephen King fan theory. Readers of Stephen King’s horror novels have long wondered what exactly Pennywise is, but the It antagonist’s origins were finally explained in Welcome to Derry season 1, episode 4.
