A couple of months after The Wire ended, creator David Simon brought yet another winner to the airwaves of HBO: the underrated war miniseries Generation Kill. All throughout its run, The Wire was frustratingly underappreciated. Quite possibly the greatest TV show ever made was right there for five years, and yet The Wire was consistently snubbed by the Emmys, and consistently struggled to find an audience.
