Seth MacFarlane’s spacefaring sci-fi series The Orville is his love letter to Star Trek, and it’s a better Star Trek show than most of the official ones right now. MacFarlane rose to prominence — or notoriety, depending on who you ask — when he created Family Guy. He’s since made three more family sitcoms, sticking pretty close to his comfort zone for most of his career.
