There have been some strong rumors that the Marvel Cinematic Universe wants to create a deeper line of cosmic Marvel movies in the future. Up to this point, this had only consisted of the Guardians of the Galaxy introducing things like the Nova Corps and the Kree, as well as the disappointing Secret Invasion showing more about the Skrulls.
