A running gag that is sadly funny because it’s true is that nobody besides Uncle Ben ever really stays dead in Marvel. Readers are accustomed to seeing characters die and reappear, and the guarantee that anyone can be either immersively or poorly reintroduced into the fabric of a story or timeline is endlessly controversial.
