Comedy has become the 2020s' favorite genre to discuss death because a certain distance is afforded by the genre that makes tragedy easier to navigate. It's not like jokes about death have suddenly become more palatable because comedy movies don't always use the setup-punchline structure that jokes have. They can instead approach darker subjects with respect while still being funny.
