Before his work on Black Mirror earned him a reputation as the modern-day Rod Serling, Charlie Brooker was best known as one of Britain’s greatest satirists. He’d been widely praised for his social critique “wipes” — Screenwipe, Gameswipe, Newswipe — and he was in the writers’ rooms for iconic British satires like Brass Eye and The 11 O’Clock Show. Now, he’s one of the first names in dystopian horror, but he was once a staple of the UK comedy scene.
