Since 1966, Star Trek has treated space as its final frontier, with both Captain James T. Kirk and Captain Jean-Luc Picard stating as such in the opening monologue of their respective series. However, three years ago everything changed, as the franchise officially admitted what fans have known for a long time: not only is space not the final frontier, it's not even close.
