Digimon as an overall gaming, toy, and anime franchise is certifiably less popular than the juggernaut which is Pokémon. While this is certainly the case, Digimon's distinct advantage, especially in video games and anime, is its willingness to explore darker themes without talking down to its audience. This paved the way for Digimon Tamers, its undisputed masterpiece.
