Prime Video really thought it had the next big thing in streaming with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, but this year is its last chance to claim any real victory. The way this fantasy TV show was marketed, there's no question that Amazon was placing the majority of its eggs in this basket. After the success of Game of Thrones, it seemed pretty clear that there was a demand for high fantasy. Combine this potential with the existing reputation of The Lord of the Rings, and Rings of Power felt like a shoo-in.
