Although your choice of clan is permanent in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, it doesn't necessarily prevent you from interacting with the other playable clans, or even ingratiating yourself with their leadership. Your own clan functions, basically, as your character class; but each clan also has its own skill tree, and you can jump around as much as you like.
